I'm not sure how I'd want an FFXIV day to be done. I think the best way would be to get four ratings for ARR and the three expansions? Rating it as a whole doesn't really make sense when it's not all out.

People are more willing to just turn their brains off and accept a dumb premise in those mediums, especially games, where the story is only part of the draw. But something about seeing a fictional world portrayed in a photorealistic manner makes people question things a lot harder.

I'm not sure it's "slowness" in and of itself that I have a problem with, but dangling too many plot threads & characters at the start and then slowly unraveling them. If a show starts off very simple and stays there for a while before getting complex, I'm generally 100% on board (like One Piece, which introduces very little that's not immediately relevant, but many say has a slow build.)

Yeah, One Piece was really good for that. They introduced Gol D. Roger and the One Piece early on, and dealt with both of them in the first 10 episodes.

I was astonished how bad the end credits of Azure were, and I played the game before playing any of the Cold Steels. They were felt rushed and silly enough even without CS existing, but they hurt CS itself, too, in many worse ways. They wouldn't have the same painful effect if you played all the CS games first, of course. I would agree that the game would be better if that part simply didn't exist, and it's a shame they didn't delete it in the Kai version.

The thing is 2/3 of these shows have major character resurrections, so sure, Dr. Strange 2 can have a throwaway line about Vision being alive, but I highly doubt they're going to have a flashback/joke/recap that does a satisfying job of explaining that, so people are going to think they need to watch the shows.

It's a business strategy basically.

Just as a note, it's kinda hentai-ish.

I actually read the Kaguya manga up to the current chapter last week. It's pretty great stuff! I like it wayyy more than what I saw of the anime. I dunno, just feels like the comic timing is better. The series kinda gets better as it goes along too, up to a certain point at least (I like the comedy more than the serious parts, and the serious:comedy ratio increases as the manga goes). The romance gets pretty good as it goes along. It kinda reminds me of how a lot of shoujo series do romance, but with a twist. Maybe the best thing about the series is how unique and creative it feels? Like it's not just doing typical anime things (most of the time at least). The comedy never stops being funny, either. Just excellently constructed all around.

Main character ranking: Ishigami > Chika > Kaguya > Miko > Miyuki.

With Shirogane's dad as the #1 side character of course. Oh my god any scene with him is guaranteed to be amazing.

Can someone who knows anything about Umineko tell me if the two arcs are considered separate enough (in release terms more than story terms) to be worth considering as separate entries for the overall ranking?

They're technically released as separate games, but they're essentially one long story. I'd almost say doing all 8 games separately would make more sense than doing them as two arcs.

If you're curious about release: each of the 8 episodes was released separately, and then compiled later into Umineko (first 4 eps) and Umineko Chiru (last 4 eps).

looking at steamcharts, it looks like it's already fallen to about a tenth its launch player counts and the free version's comfortably over it again. obviously being on the platform that has to compete with the free version doesn't help but also being the definitive edition among them purely for that meta stuff, it's probably a sign that its sales are starting to drop off considerably

what is the point of this post

Almost every game sells best in its first week, particularly sequels. Even if it never sold another copy again, the 500K number would still be great.

I have replayed story driven games immediately after beating them and still watched everything. It's fun to catch the foreshadowing I missed the first time.

Are you saying you don't skip content when replaying stuff like Steins;Gate for the other routes?
